Ferrying a Cessna 182 to Kenya

Posted on June 05, 2012 by 5 | 0 comments
It's a long story, really. One of those a friend of a friend and all the pieces just fell into place kind of stories. Short version: Patrick is ferrying a Cessna 182 to Kenya over the next few weeks. At the last minute, his friend Jake decided to jump in and join him on the first half of the trip.   Obviously, the 182 is a small airplane.  This little baby can't quite manage a flight directly across the Atlantic Ocean. So they're hopping up through Canada, Greenland, Iceland, and then into Europe and then down to Africa. Tired just thinking about it? Yeah, me too. Matt, the guy in the far left in the picture above, did a TON of work on the 182 to get it ready. He was kinda glad to see it leave, I think! Patrick and Jake flew together in college and talked a lot about flying some big adventure. It was a long time coming, but they're finally doing it. And YES, they will be filming the trip with (multiple, I'm sure) Nflightcams. What else did you expect?   Bye boys. Fly safe. Don't have too much fun without us.

Last week Patrick was on location with Rob Holland and the Blue Angels at the Wings Over South Texas Airshow. They had so much fun on this photo shoot with Scott Slocum. The video captured with the Nflightcam+ (of course!) turned out amazing as well. Days like this make us really love our job! Special thanks to: The Men and Women of The United States Navy Lt C.J. Simonsen, Blue Angel #5 Lt Dave Tickle, Blue Angel #6

Patrick's First Helicopter Flight Lesson

Posted on March 13, 2012 by 5 | 0 comments
This week we're in Kauai, partnering with Mauna Loa Helicopters and doing a little helicopter training, too. In between setting up Nflightcams on their helicopters, Patrick has been taking flight lessons. I have to admit, I'm really enjoying the fact that Patrick is the student now. Perhaps he'll have a little more compassion on my struggles to learn how to land? Probably not. We have a short clip for you to see today. They didn't leave the airport during this first lesson, but we should have some amazing views to show you soon.

Big Rocks and Long Props Vol. 5 Trailer

As I mentioned in the early post Nflightcam has partnered with Greg Miller and Bent Prop Productions to bring  a new angle to Big Rocks Long Props Vol. 5.  I just returned from 10 days of intense filming with Greg and put a quick trailer together.  We used a total of 8 Nflightcam+ cameras to capture the action from every angle.  Greg is also a machinist and helped us design and fabricate an awesome new camera mount we are calling the spud!  Stay tuned as we will be offering them for sale in about 1 month, along with Big Rocks Long Props Vol. 5 when it releases.

If you are interested in making videos like this it is not as hard or as expensive as you may think, check out our Nflightcam+ or call 866-901-8516  or email support@nflightcam.com and we will get you set-up.

nflightcam_bigrocks

Have you heard of Big Rocks & Long Props, a video series by Greg Miller and Bent Prop Productions? If you haven't, you've got to take a few minutes and check out the photos and videos!  I have been a huge fan for years (just ask my wife!) and so I'm excited to tell you that Nflighcam is going to be partnering with Bent Prop Productions on their next video series. This week I've been frantically packing my gear to head out on a 10 day excursion with Greg Miller. I knew I would need to fit lots of camera and camping gear into a small space so it's taking a little strategy. I will be posting about how we are mounting and using the cameras through out the trip so stay tuned for some epic back-country flying.
